Weiss doesn't deserve this ridicule from the media or the fans. He's been a loyal Panther since day 1. I hope he gets traded because any team he's on will be better than this group of bums in Florida. This organization will never get over the hump, here's to better days for Weiss and possibly a playoff appearance wit another team because God knows the Panthers will finish DEAD LAST this season.

Was that a compliment or some sort of positivity towards Weiss in the midst of your usual indescribable negativity? Lol. Anyone who is a fan of this team loves Weiss, without question, but you have seen him play this year, right? He said himself it's a business and the business end of the NHL just might show him out the door in Florida. With how he is playing no one could blame Tallon for dealing him at this point.

I know Fletcher has wanted Weiss on the Wild ever since being hired, not sure anymore. Would gladly trade Seto plus for a guy like him, even if he is a shell of his former self

I wouldn't say he is a shell of his former self, because he is still young, but this is really unchartered territory in South Florida. I can't ever remember Weiss going through a slump like this. Could he turn it around quickly? Sure. But it's looking grim for him right now.

Good Blog.Tough Start for you guys, but its a great Draft coming up. Is Tallon looking for picks for Weiss, Or would he consider something like MacArthur and Gunnerson/ Liles??

I think that depends on how far away they thing Bjugstad is from starting. I think O'Reilly is a possibility, but with this draft being a deep one and Tallon being Tallon, I'm sure he'd like a first round draft pick if he could get it.

Poor wording on my part, along with the fact that I was thinking he was 33+
Bjugstad is going to be a beast for Florida. Damn you!

Markstrom is our future. You're just one of the many idiot leaf fans that don't do their homework.

Yeah, I know Markstrom is your future, and Gudbranson is a Beast. Youre getting a 1st to take on Louongo in the deal. Youre the idiot, being such an ass when I was just talking hockey.

I would say the Bruins should consider him as a trade interest, but it seems like almost 3/4 of the forewords are natural centers so I'm no sure what the line combos would turn into.

What he meant to say was, "no thank you".

Look, Weiss has been my favorite Panther for a long time. Even when he was struggling to score goals in the past, he did the small things that didn't show up on the score sheet. He was always able to make those around him better. But this season has seen him go in the opposite direction. He is lazy, he is making poor decisions with and without the puck (see today's line change that led to Boston's 3rd goal), and no matter what line he is put on, he does nothing to help the chemistry.

Do I want Weiss traded? Yes. Not because I hate him. Not because he sucks. But because it's what's best for him and the team. Let him and the team move on. Weiss served his purpose here. He got us to the playoffs. He was THE guy here for a long time. He was the man we went to when the game was on the line. When we HAD to have the faceoff, he was the one who took it. The youth movement has started. He's been on the top line, the second line, the third line, and the fourth line.

Huberdeau is now. Shore is now. Markstrom is now. Bjugstad is now. Not sure if any of you saw Robak today, but he played great hockey. Made Filip Kuba look like a tree. Gudbranson is now. Mueller, though not one of our draft picks, is now. This will allow Fleischman and Versteeg to sit on the second or third line where they belong.

Everyone needs to understand that we got LUCKY last season. It was never supposed to happen. Over achievers is an over statement. Let Tallons plan come to fruition. When our line up doesn't have guys like Jovanovski and Kuba in it... everyone will take notice. Obviously we will need some help in free agency. But they will come in to SUPPORT what we already have. We have the support players. Kopecky has been playing AMAZING. You have to love Skille and Matthias.

Next season and beyond the Panthers will be relevant. Just get through these next few weeks, it would all have been worth it.

O'Reilly is an attractive option, but why? We have Bjugstad and Shore as our top two centers coming up. Unless you put him on the wing? But with Huberdeau, Mueller, Versteeg, Fleischman, Howden, etc.. you almost have to put him on the third line. The guy is asking for too much money. But who knows. To be honest with you, we have SO many prospects, that you almost have to trade one or two of them (not the big name guys) to get a good scorer or two in here. Again, it gets VERY interesting this off season.

Weiss would be a good addition to alot of teams. Florida has some good prospects coming up just not sure if the fan base can tolerate a lengthy rebuild.

The rebuild is done, now the pieces just have to come up and get it done. A free agent here or there and we're contending for the next decade.

Hey Dan, what do you think will happen with Theodore? Play out the season and become an UFA or do you think he will be traded for a pick or whatever they can get for him??

Depends on how they feel about Markstrom. These first two starts haven't been fair to him.

Have you seen his numbers so far? I don't think he'll get much of anything in a trade

Taloon has done a great job in his short time. I remember how he quickly dismantelled the team when he showed up. Alot of bad work and trades of draft picks over the years by the panthers. If im not mustaken in 02 they had first pick traded down to third passing up on nash and taking boowmeister whos gone. In 2003 again the first pick was traded for third passing up on eric stall for nathan horton weiss in 2001at i believe 4th pick is only top pick left. Other hi picks olesz 7th frlik few years later 10th. We all harp on the oilers for there top picks but atleast they kept them and they players the panthers traded down for are gone.
